إنها ظاهرة شغلت بال البشر في كل العصور، ونسجوا حولها الخرافات والأساطير، فكانت توحي لهم بالخوف أحياناً وبموت العظماء أحياناً أخرى، أو ولادة ملك أو زعيم وغير ذلك من الأفكار التي كانوا يتخيلونها مثل سقوط حاكم أو وقوع كارثة طبيعية أو خسارة معركة... تضمنت بعض الأساطير أفكاراً نراها مضحكة في عصرنا هذا، ولكنها كانت هي التفسير المنطقي قبل آلاف السنين. فقد كان الصينيون يفسرون ظاهرة كسوف الشمس على أن تنّيناً يحاول أن يبتلع قرص الشمس!!! لذلك كانوا يضربون بالطبول ويقذفون بالسهام لأعلى محاولة منهم إخافة التنين وإعادة الشمس لهم من فمه! وفي الهند كان الناس يغمرون أنفسهم بالماء عند رؤيتهم هذه الظاهرة لكي لا يسقط عليهم شيء منه!! وحتى يومنا هذا يعتقد الإسكيمو أن الشمس تختفي وتذهب بعيداً أثناء ظاهرة كسوف الشمس ثم تعود من جديد!! (1). ولغاية قرون قليلة في عام 1230 م حدث كسوف في أوروبا الغربية في الصباح مما اضطر العمال للرجوع إلى منازلهم لظنهم أن الليل قد خيم! ولكن في غضون ساعة استعادت الشمس سطوعها مما أدهش الجميع (2).
شكل (1) ظلت ظاهرة الكسوف مرتبطة بالكوارث والهزيمة في المعارك والموت وغير ذلك حتى عهد قريب من النهضة العلمية في العصر الحديث. عندما تقدم العلم وبدأ عصر الكشوفات الفلكية والبحث العلمي، وجد العلماء تفسيراً لهذه الظاهرة، واتضح أنها ظاهرة طبيعية تحدث نتيجة دوران القمر حول الأرض، ووقوع القمر بين الشمس والأرض مما يمنع رؤية الشمس. وتتكرر هذه الظاهرة باستمرار بقانون كوني ورياضي محسوب ويمكن التنبؤ به مسبقاً. كيف يحدث الكسوف؟ إن القمر يدور حول الأرض، والأرض تدور حول الشمس كما هو معلوم، فلكل منهم مدار محدد وفلك محسوب بدقة فائقة. وعندما يمرّ القمر بين الأرض والشمس أثناء النهار فإنه سيحجب ضوء الشمس عنا وتغيب هذه الشمس لفترة من الزمن هي ما نسميه بكسوف الشمس، ويكون القمر والأرض والشمس على خط واحد أثناء حدوث هذه الظاهرة.
شكل (2) توضيح لآلية حدوث الكسوف حيث يعترض القمر الشمس في مداريهما مما يؤدي لحجب الرؤية كلياً أو جزئياً حسب موقع الشمس والقمر. أنواع الكسوف الشمسي وربما يكون من أجمل أنواع الكسوف هو ما نسميه بالكسوف الكلي عندما تختفي أشعة الشمس بشكل كامل. أما إذا مرّ القمر أمام الشمس وحجب جزءاً منها فإن هذا سيسمى بالكسوف الجزئي. وهنالك نوع ثالث هو الكسوف الحلقي عندما لا يعترض القمر الشمس بشكل كامل بل تظهر هالة دائرية حوله وهو أيضاً من المناظر الجميلة والرائعة. إن قطر الشمس أكبر من قطر القمر 400 مرة، وحتى يحدث الكسوف يجب أن تكون الشمس أبعد بـ 400 مرة من بعد القمر عن الأرض وعندها سيغطي قرص القمر قرص الشمس، ويظهران كأنهما بنفس الحجم، وطبعاً سوف يحدث الكسوف في هذه الحالة (3).
شكل (3) الكسوف الكلي للشمس عندما يغطي القمر قرص الشمس بشكل كامل ولا تبقى سوى هالة صغيرة نراها من ضوء الشمس.
شكل (4) الكسوف الحلقي، حيث لا يغطي القمر كامل قرص الشمس وتحيط به حلقة جميلة وملونة من أطياف ضوء الشمس. خطورة النظر إلى الشمس أثناء الكسوف إن النظر إلى الشمس أثناء أي نوع من الكسوف يسبب أضراراً دائمة للعين بسبب تلقيها كمية من الإشعاعات الخطرة والمركزة. وحتى النظارات الشمسية التي يستعملها البعض فهي خطرة أيضاً ولا تمنع كل الأشعة تحت الحمراء الضارة. كما ينبغي الحرص على الأطفال ومنعهم من النظر إلى الكسوف لتفادي الأخطار المحتملة على عيونهم. ولكن هنالك تقنية بسيطة يمكن من خلالها النظر إلى كسوف الشمس وهي أن نستخدم قطعة من الكرتون المقوى ونحدث فيها فتحة بقطر ميليمتر واحد فقط ويمكن استعمالها بأمان ورؤية البقع الشمسية أو حتى الانفجارات الشمسية (4). لا تنظر إلى الشمس أثناء الكسوف الكلي أو الجزئي أو الحلقي بالعين المجردة، فإن هذا سيسبب أضراراً دائمة في شبكية العين، وقد لا تظهر هذه الأضرار إلا بعد فترة من الزمن. وقد يتسبب ذلك في العمى الدائم للعين (5). إن الخطر يأتي من الأشعة تحت الحمراء المخفية، وهي لا تُرى بالعين ولذلك يظن الناظر إلى الشمس أنه لا مشكلة في ذلك وهو لا يعلم أن هذه الأشعة الخطرة إذا ما دخلت عيناه فيمكن أن تسبب جروحاً بالغة في الشبكية. ويمكن النظر فقط لثوان قليلة بالعين المجردة في حالة الكسوف الكامل. يمكن النظر للكسوف الشمسي بشكل آمن بطريقة إحداث ثقب صغير جداً يدخل منه ضوء الشمس وينعكس على ورقة أو كرتونة، طبعاً لا يجب أن ننظر من خلال الثقب مباشرة إلى الشمس(6).
شكل (5) من أجل النظر الآمن لكسوف الشمس ينبغي النظر على ورقة تعكس ضوء الشمس الصادر من ثقب صغير جداً. أما النظر المباشر للشمس في هذا الوقت فإنه يضر بالعين.
كسوف القمر يحدث كسوف للقمر أيضاً عندما تعترض الأرض ظل الشمس عليه، ويختفي القمر كلياً ويسمى بالكسوف الكلي للقمر، أو جزئياً ويسمى الكسوف الجزئي. إن القمر لا يختفي كلياً لأن وجود الغيوم والغبار في الجو يسبب توهج لقرص القمر الذي حجبت الأرض عنه ضوء الشمس، ويبدو القمر كقرص نحاسي (7).
شكل (6) كسوف القمر. حيث تختفي أشعة الشمس الساقطة على سطح القمر تختفي وراء الأرض التي تعترض هذه الأشعة. تأتي أشعة الشمس باتجاه القمر ولكن الأرض أثناء رحلة دورانها تمر بين القمر والشمس فتحجب ضوء الشمس عن القمر لمدة من الزمن وعندها سيختفي القمر ولكن نرى توهجه من خلال الغيوم والغبار ويبدو كأنه قرص نحاسي باهت نوعاً ما. التأثيرات المترافقة مع الكسوف الكلي في حالة الكسوف الكلي وحالما يبدأ القمر بالعبور أمام الشمس يبدأ الظلام بالحلول حتى يغطي السماء بشكل تام، ونرى منظراً فريداً ورائعاً: ظلام أثناء النهار! هنالك العديد من الظواهر تحدث أثناء الكسوف. فالأزهار سوف تبدأ بالانحناء وتبدأ تنغلق على نفسها كما لو كان ليلاً! النحل يصبح في حيرة من أمره، والطيور تتوقف عن التغريد، وتنخفض درجة الحرارة قليلاً. ثم يستمر القمر برحلته ويغادر من أمام الشمس وتبدأ الشمس بالظهور من جديد وتعود الأمور تدريجياً كما كانت، ببساطة هذا كل شيء يحدث (8). الهدي النبوي في الكسوف رأينا فيما سبق كيف تطورت المعرفة بالكسوف من الأساطير والخرافات وصولاً إلى التفسير العلمي الذي أظهر بأن الكسوف هو حدث كوني عادي جداً. فالشمس لا تنكسف لحياة ملك ولا لموت حاكم، فالأمر أكبر من ذلك بكثير. الثابت أن هذه المعتقدات كانت سائدة في حياة سيدنا محمد صلوات الله عليه وسلامه. وقد شاءت إرادة الله تعالى أن يحدث الكسوف على زمن النبي الكريم صلى الله عليه وسلم. وعلى الفور سارع الناس للقول بأن أحد العظماء مات أو وُلد! ولكن ماذا كان موقف من تلقى علمه من ربّ الشمس والقمر؟؟ هل صحح المعتقدات؟ هل وضع الأساس العلمي قبل أن يراه العلماء بأكثر من ألف سنة؟ هل وافقهم على معتقدهم أم هداهم إلى الحقيقة العلمية اليقينية؟ لقد قال كلمات قليلة لخّص فيها كل الحقائق التي اكتشفها العلماء في القرن العشرين؟ لقد خاطب قومه ومن بعدهم فقال عليه أفضل الصلاة والسلام: (إن الشمس والقمر آيتان من آيات الله تعالى لا ينخسفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته، فإذا رأيتم ذلك فافزعوا إلى ذكر الله تعالى وإلى الصلاة)[رواه البخاري و مسلم وغيرهما]. لقد حدّد هذا الحديث عدة حقائق علمية لم تكن معروفة من قبل: 1- وضّح الحديث الشريف أن الشمس والقمر مخلوقات وآيات سخرها الله تعالى ولا علاقة لهما بما يحدث على الأرض من ولادة أو موت أحد أو غير ذلك. وفي هذه العبارة قد وضع الرسول الكريم أساساً للبحث العلمي في الظواهر الكونية على اعتبار أنها آيات من عند الله ومخلوقات تخضع لإرادة خالقها عز وجل. 2- أشار الحديث إلى أن هذه الظاهرة تحدث بفعل الشمس والقمر معاً! بينما كان الناس يعتقدون أن القمر لا علاقة له بهذه الظاهرة، بل إنهم كانوا يعتقدون أن الشمس تختفي وتذهب بعيداً أو أن هنالك قوة ما تحاول أن تلتهمها. ولو كان رسول الله يأتي بشيء من عنده لكان وافقهم على معتقدهم. ولكن نجده عليه الصلاة والسلام يميز بين الحق والباطل، كيف لا وهو الذي قال الله تعالى عنه: (وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى *إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى) [النجم: 3-4]. 3- لقد أمرنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن نفزع إلى الصلاة والدعاء عند كسوف الشمس: (فافزعوا إلى الصلاة). أليس هذا أسلوباً لوقاية العين من الأشعة تحت الحمراء الخطيرة والتي قد تسبب العمى الدائم؟ وإذا كانت الزَّهرة تنحني أوراقها عند كسوف الشمس وربما هي تسجد لله تعالى، أفلا نسجد نحن لله تعالى كما علّمنا الرسول الكريم عليه الصلاة والتسليم؟ 4-روى البخاري عن المغيرة بن شعبة قال: انكسفت الشمس يوم مات إبراهيم، فقال الناس: انكسفت لموت إبراهيم، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (إن الشمس والقمر آيتان من آيات الله، لا ينكسفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته، فإذا رأيتموها فادعوا الله وصلوا حتى ينجلي). وقد وجدتُ في هذه الرواية إعجازاً في قوله عليه الصلاة والسلام: (حتى ينجلي). أليست هذه العبارة تحمل إشارة إلى جلاء القمر أي ذهابه من أمام الشمس؟ وفي معجم مختار الصحاح نجد معنى كلمة (ينجلي) أي ينكشف، ومعنى ذلك أن القمر قد أظل الشمس وسوف ينجلي ويذهب عنها وسوف تنكشف الشمس من جديد، وهذه منتهى الدقة اللغوية والعلمية، والله تعالى أعلم.
شكل (7) صورة رائعة لكسوف الشمس فوق أحد المساجد بالهند. خاتمة يتضح لنا مما سبق أن الكسوف آية من آيات الله تعالى كما حدّثنا عنها حبيبنا عليه الصلاة والسلام عندما قال: (آيتان من آيات الله) وبما أنه ينبغي على المؤمن أن يتفكر في آيات الله تعالى فإن قراءة أبحاث كهذه هي نوع من أنواع العبادة لله! وهذه الكلام ليس من عندي بل هو كلام الله تعالى القائل: (كَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآَيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ) [يونس: 24]. ويقول أيضاً: (كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْآَيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ) [البقرة: 266]. والقرآن يحضنا على التفكر في مخلوقات الله وآياته الكونية، وذلك لنصبح أكثر علماً بالله تعالى. وعسى أن نكون من الذين قال الله تعالى فيهم في سورة [الفرقان الآية 73]: (وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِآَيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا) بقلم المهندس: عبد الدائم الكحيل باحث في إعجاز القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية |

و الصلاة و السلام على أشرف المرسلين سيدنا و موﻻنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم و على آله أجمعين..
ما حكم الإسـﻻم في امرأة مسلمة ملتزمة بتكاليف العقيدة و منهج الإسـﻻم، لكنها تنزل الشارع سافرة حاسرة اﻷعضاء ؟
على الفتاة التي تزعم أن الدين يحجر عليها في لباسها و في زينتها و في حياتها أن تعلم جيدا كيف أن الدين أراد أن يؤمن شيخوختها في الهرم و عند سن اليأس، فإن أول صدمة تقع في كيان المرأة تكون عند سن اليأس عندما تنقطع عنها الدورة الشهرية.
في هذه اﻷوقات الحرجة عندما تزوي نضارة المرأة و يخبو جمالها، نراها محتاجة إلى عطف زوجها و حنانه و بره و هي ضعيفة مسكينة، كثيرة التفكير في المصير المؤلم من ناحية أخرى، ﻷنها لم تعد تشبع غرائز الزوج.
فعلى الفتاة أن تعلم أن الإسـﻻم إنما أراد أن يؤمن هذه الشيخوخة الذابلة المنهكة و أن يدفع إليها البشر والتفاؤل و اﻷمان.
على هذه الفتاة أن تعلم أنها لن تظل جميلة طول عمرها، و ﻻ فاتنة ساحرة مدى حياتها، فإذا ما ذبلت هذه الزهرة بتقدم العمر، و انمحت نضارتها، و اعتصرت محاسنها، و لم تعد تصلح لإثارة غرائز الزوج و هي ليست في مستوى الإهاجة و نزل الشارع فرأى فتاة في خير عمرها و في كامل زينتها و رونقها جرت شهوته إلى غمار المقارنة بين ما ينظر الشارع و ما يراه في البيت.
و بين هذا و ذاك تتكالب عليه الهموم و الحسرات، و ﻻ نعتقد أن هذه المقارنة ستسر أي امرأة، فنظر الرجل في الشارع إلى حسن ظاهر سافر مبتذل تبدد رصيد الحب بينه و بين زوجته، لو لم ير في الشارع لما التهبت و ﻻ تنبهت غرائزه من هنا تنحل اﻷسرة الزوجية و تننفك المودة العائلية.
فاعلمي أيتها الفتاة أن الذي منعك منع من أجلك ، و الذي منع منع ليحافظ عليك.
فبمقدار ما أغوت امرأة رجاﻻ بمقدار ما زهد فيها رجال، و بمقدار ما رغب فيها أناس بمقدار ما رغب عنها أكثر منهم، و بمقدار ما استحالت من نفوس فإن الله يذل آخرتها في الدنيا و اﻵخرة، بأن ينصرف الكل عنها انصرافا مزريا محتقرا و الذي يتمنى أن يحظى بنظرة واحدة لو رآها لبصق عليها.

بسم الله، والحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام على سيدنا محمد رسول الله، وعلى آله وصحبه ومن والاه.. وبعد!!
المقاومة ضمير الأمة.. المقاومة الفلسطينية هي ضمير أمتنا وكرامتها، هي التي أحيت روحَها الهامدةَ، وأنْعشَت أَمَلَها الخافِتَ، هي التي أفْشَلَت المشروعَ الصهيونيَّ الذي كان يستهدف قلبَ الأمةِ وكبدَها وليس فلسطينَ وحدَها، هي التي فرضَت على العالمِ كلِّه الاعترافَ بالشعبِ الفلسطينيِّ بعد طولِ إنكارٍ وجحودٍ لوجودِه؛ ولذلك فقد احتضنتْها الأمةُ بين جوانِحِها، وأيَّدتْها الشعوبُ بما تستطيعُ، ولولا الموانعُ والعوائقُ التي أقامتْها الحكوماتُ لانْخَرَطَ فيها الآلافُ وربَّما الملايينُ الراغبون في تحريرِ الأرضِ وتطهيرِ المقدساتِ، وإعادةِ الحقِّ إلى أهلِه، غيرَ عابئين باتهاماتِ دول الاستعمار قديمه وحديثه.
الخداع السياسي.. وبمرورِ الوقتِ لجأت الدولُ الكبرى إلى الحيلةِ والدهاءِ السياسيِّ، وكانت الفتنةُ فأطفَأَت الثروةُ جذوةَ الثورةِ، واستغلَّ الصهاينةُ الفرصةَ فتوسَّعوا في انتزاعِ الأرضِ وإقامةِ المستعمراتِ وتهويدِ القدسِ وإقامةِ الجدارِ العازلِ وقتلِ المجاهدين وتدميرِ المباني وتجريفِ المزارعِ.
حماس هي الأمل..

وشعر الفلسطينيون أن أملَهم في التحرير والسيادة يتسرَّب مِن بين أصابعِهم، فتلفَّتوا حولَهم فوجدوا فصيلاً من المقاومة لم يتلوثْ بالدنيا، ولم يتطلعْ إلى المناصبِ ولم يهجر السلاحَ والكفاحَ، يشاركُهم شظفَ العيشِ ولأْواءَ الحياة، ويقدم لهم الخدماتِ في كلِّ المجالاتِ المعيشيةِ والصحيةِ والتعليميةِ والثقافيةِ، يستمدُّ مبادئه ومناهجَه وبرامجَه من الإسلامِ الحنيفِ، فالتفُّوا حولَه ومنَحوه ثقتَهم في انتخاباتِ المجالسِ المحليةِ، ثم انتخاباتِ المجلسِ التشريعيِّ، فكانت أول حركة تحريرية مسلَّحة تصل إلى السلطة في انتخاباتٍ برلمانيةٍ حرة وفي ظل الاحتلال على مستوى العالم.
الزلزال والعاصفة..
وهنا حدث الزلزال، ثم انطلقت العاصفةُ في حربٍ نفسيةٍ هوجاء، من رفاق الأمس في الكفاح، ومِن دولٍ عربيةٍ، ومن دول العالم الغربية- وعلى رأسها أمريكا- ومن العدو الصهيوني؛ حتى تتخلى حماس عن مبادئها وثوابتِها الوطنية، مُلَوِّحين بسلاحِ قطعِ المعونات، وما هي بمعوناتٍ، وإنما هي استحقاقاتٌ لشعبٍ سُلب وطنُه ودارُه وموطنُ رزقِه، في مؤامرةٍ دوليةٍ خسيسةٍ، وها هي وزيرةُ الخارجيةِ الأمريكيةِ لا تكتفي بتنفيذ تهديداتِها وحدها ولا حتى تحريض حلفائها الغربيين فقط، ولكنها تجوب منطقتَنا العربيةَ لتحرِّضَ مصر والسعودية ودول الخليج على منع دعمها عن الفلسطينيين، ضاغطةً على حكومات هذه البلاد بتقاعسِها عن الإصلاح السياسي وتطبيقِ الديمقراطيةِ وتخلُّفِها في مضمارِ احترامِ حقوقِ الإنسان.
النفاق السياسي..
وهنا يتجلى النفاق السياسي في أوضح صوره، فهي هنا حاميةُ حِمى الحريات، وداعيةُ حقوق الإنسان، ومع حماس التي فازت في أنزَهِ انتخابات أُجريت في العالمِ العربيِّ ترفض نتيجة الديمقراطية وتسعى لوأْدِها، ولو عن طريق تجويعِ الشعبِ الفلسطينيِّ وخنقه؛ لأنه مارس حقَّه في الحرية والاختيار!! فهل تخضع حكوماتُنا وتنصاع لهذا الابتزاز الإجرامي؟! وإنني أربَأ بها أن تشارك في مؤامرة قتل إخواننا في فلسطين بالتجويع.
واجباتنا..
وأحب هنا أن أوضح واجباتنا جميعًا تجاه فلسطين وحماس كي ندرأ العاصفة الظالمة عنها:
* ففى الداخل أودُّ أن أشيدَ بموقف الرئيس الفلسطيني والسلطة الفلسطينية من الانتخابات، ثم إسناده تشكيلَ الحكومة إلى حماس في احترام واضح لإرادة الشعب وقواعد الديمقراطية، وأدعو كافة الفصائل إلى الاستجابة لدعوة حماس إلى تشكيل حكومة وحدة وطنية، تحمل عبءَ التحرير، وتقضي على الفساد، وتحقِّق الاستقرارَ الأمنيَّ الداخليَّ والعدالةَ الاجتماعيةَ، وتترفَّع فصائلُها عن الممارسات التي تدفع إليها المصالح الحزبية الضيقة.
* كما أدعو إلى إعادة ترتيب البيت الفلسطيني- وأعني به منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية- على أسس وطنية خالصة ووفق معايير ديمقراطية صحيحة.
* وأدعو فلسطينيِّ الخارج- وعددهم يزيد على فلسطينيِّ الداخل- أن يدعموا شعبَهم وحكومتَهم ماديًّا ومعنويًّا، فكريًّا وعمليًّا، سياسيًّا واقتصاديًّا واجتماعيًّا.
* وأدعو الحكوماتِ العربيةَ ألا تخضع للضغوط الأمريكية، بل ترفعُ من سقف دعمِها للشعبِ الفلسطيني، وأن تحترمَ إرادتَه، وتتعاونَ مع حكومتِه المنتخَبة، وخصوصًا ومؤتمرُ القمة العربية الدوري على الأبواب.
* كذلك أدعو منظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي أن تدعو لمؤتمرٍ للدول الإسلامية ليقررَ دعمَ الشعب والحكومة الفلسطينية في وجه المؤامرة الغربية الصهيونية الجديدة.
* وأعلِّق أكبرَ الآمال على الشعوب العربية والإسلامية، وأثِقُ تمام الثقة أنها على أتم استعداد للتضحية بالمال- إن عجزت عن التضحية بالنفس- لدعم إخوانها في فلسطين الذين يمثلون الطليعةَ المرابطةَ لتحرير القدس الشريف والأراضي المقدسة في فلسطين.
* وأخيرًا وليس آخرًا أشُدُّ على أيدي الرجال في حماس، وأقول لهم: اثبتوا على مبادئكم وعلى طريقِكِم مهما عَصفَت به العواصفُ أو تناوشتْه الأعاصيرُ، فالشعبُ معكم والأمةُ العربيةُ والإسلاميةُ معكم، والله فوقَ ذلك كله معكم.. ﴿يَا أيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ* وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا فَتَعْسًا لَهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ﴾ (محمد: 7، 8) ﴿وَالَّذِيْنَ جَاهَدُوا فِيْنَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ﴾ (العنكبوت: 69)

Egypt finds deadly bird flu virus
Egypt has detected its first cases of the deadly H5N1 bird flu strain in three areas in the country, including the capital, Cairo.
The government confirmed that the virus was found in four chickens in Cairo, two in nearby Giza and one in Minya, 220km (135 miles) south of the capital.
The health ministry said tests were carried out on people living nearby, but no human cases had been detected.

Message to the World regarding the Danish Cartoons
In the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful. All praise be to Allah and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
This is my message to the Muslim Nation, the Muslim youth, the Western civilization, and the whole world. I present this message through Amrkhaled.net to reach the Life-Makers youth and the youth of the forum. I ask them to deliver it exactly as I have said it to the Muslim Nation, the Muslim and Arab youth, the West through all their contacts there and surely to the whole world.
My first message is to the Muslim Nation and the Muslim youth:
Allah (TWT)[1] says what can be translated as, “Say, “In case your fathers, and your sons, and your brethren, and your spouses, and your kinsmen, and riches that you have scored (Literally: committed) and commerce whose slackening you are apprehensive of, and dwellings you are satisfied with, in case these are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His way, then await till Allah comes up with His Command; and Allah does not guide the immoral people” (TMQ[2], 9:24). If any of these eight things is dearer to you than Allah, the Messenger of Allah (SAWS)[3] and striving in the way of Allah and His Prophet; if your sons are dearer to you than the Messenger of Allah; if your money is dearer to you than the Messenger of Allah; if your country is dearer to you then the Messenger of Allah; if your wife is dearer to you than the Messenger of Allah, then expect the dreadful anger of Allah (TWT) to be near.
To you I emphasize that dignifying and loving Allah’s Prophet is a divine precept in the same way that loving Allah (TWT) is. Again listen, “Say, “In case your fathers, and your sons, and your brethren… in case these are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger …” observe the status of loving Allah’s Messenger (SAWS).
Why should there be all that love? There is another ayah[4] in the Qur’an in which Allah says what can be translated as, “Indeed there has already come to you a Messenger from (among) yourselves. Mighty (i.e., burdensome) to him is whatever distresses you. Most eager is he for your (welfare), to the believers (he is) constantly compassionate, constantly merciful.” (TMQ, 9:128). It is because he is such that we love him in this way. Accordingly the relationship between us and him is just like the ayah in which Allah describes what can be translated as, “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and (the ones) who are with him are strict against the steadfast disbelievers, constantly merciful among themselves. You see them constantly bowing themselves, (and) constantly prostrating themselves, seeking Grace from Allah and all-blessed Satisfaction…”(TMQ, 48:29). In order to ensure that such a relationship remains like that for ever, in an ayah in surat[5] Al-Hujuraat, which continuously rings in our ears, Allah (TWT) states what can be translated as, “And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah…”(TMQ, 49:7). The Messenger of Allah is among us?! Who is this ayah addressing? The sahaba[6] at time of the sahaba? No, this ayah is everlasting and effective everywhere and forever. O youth, O mothers, O ladies… Everyone must “know” that in the year 2006, in the year 2010, in the coming century, in the past century: during any age or time, know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. He is among you with his shari’ah[7], he is among you with his sunnah[8] and he is among you with his mercy. He is among you with his path, among you with his way and among you with the light and guidance he left behind. He is among you with his love to you. He is among you with the fact that each time anyone prays for him (conveying him peace and blessings), Allah returns his soul back to him so that he can answer us. He is among us with the fact that all our deeds are presented to him every Thursday, so whatever good there is he thanks Allah for it, and whatever evil there is, he asks Allah to forgive us for it.
Again, the four ayahs I mentioned order us to love him because, “… Mighty (i.e., burdensome) to him is whatever distresses you. Most eager is he for your (welfare), to the believers (he is) constantly compassionate, constantly merciful”. So the relationship between us and him is, “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and (the ones) who are with him are strict against the steadfast disbelievers, constantly merciful among themselves…”. Allah continues to remind us of this relationship by saying, “And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah…”. All prayers and blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad (SAWS).
My message to the Muslim Nation and Muslim youth is, loving Allah’s Messenger, dignifying Allah’s messenger, defending Allah’s messenger and living on the path of Allah’s messenger is a duty and a responsibility that we will be asked about on the Day of Judgment. O youth, there is a responsibility resting on our shoulders. O Life-Makers, there is a responsibility resting on our shoulders. O ladies, there is a responsibility resting on our shoulders that dignifying Allah’s Messenger is a trust that we will present to him on the Day of Judgment when we meet him at the hawd[9]. We will go to him (SAWS) and tell him we are your ummah[10], we have fulfilled our duty. Perhaps we may have been wrongdoers, perhaps we sinned and perhaps we did not always work perfectly to reform and revive your ummah but we could not but dignify you and make the whole world dignify you. This is a responsibility that we return to you on the Day of Judgment that you may use to intercede for us and allow us to drink from your hawd while patting us happily. You (SAWS) would then say to us, yes, you made mistakes and committed sins, but dignifying me was so dear to you. Then you would make us drink from your hawd.
This is a trust. My message to the ummah is that we can never betray that trust whatever happens; it is the trust of dignifying the Prophet (SAWS) and making the world dignify Allah’s Messenger (SAWS). This is in addition to loving him and living on his sunnah and on his path. This is my message to the Muslim Nation. We will never neglect dignifying our Prophet, our beloved and our role model (SAWS).
Now this is my message to the West:
There exists a cultural vagueness in the West. This vagueness results from the presence of two different concepts. The first is a great Western concept that we respect, appraise, and need. That concept is freedom of speech. This is a great humane and civilized concept. On the other hand, there is the great Islamic concept of dignifying Allah’s Messenger (SAWS). The problem arises due to the lack of understanding of the Islamic Civilization and the Western Civilization regarding these two concepts. The non-Muslims cannot value the rank of dignifying the Prophet (SAWS). On the other hand, due to the below-average quality of practical application of freedom of speech, Muslims have a vague understanding of the concept of respecting freedom of speech.
Accordingly, what is required now? We do not want to refuse the concept of freedom of speech, absolutely not. However, the West should alter the freedom of speech so that it does not collide with the very important Islamic value of dignifying the Prophet (SAWS). Here lies the vagueness and ambiguity. The West understands very well the freedom of speech (which we appreciate) but it does not understand Islamic values, such as dignifying the Prophet (SAWS) and other Islamic sanctities. This is where the Western cultural vagueness lies.
I clearly say to the West, you have a problem. You cannot comprehend how much the Muslims love Prophet Muhammad (SAWS). You are still unable to understand this point. If you had really encompassed its significance, you would never have accepted what happened. The West, in general, governments and people, does not apprehend that Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) is dearer to us than our parents, dearer to me than my father and dearer than my mother. I am sure that any Muslim woman listening to me now, be her religious or not, will swear on that fact. Just ask, what does Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) mean to you? It is not even necessary to do that because it is so evident, but you may conduct surveys for yourselves, and you will realize how true what I am saying is. Ask any youth, be he heedless or pious; ask any Muslim anywhere, in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Yemen or in Egypt. Ask any Muslim in any village regardless of how religious he is, be he an obedient Muslim or not, a drug user or not, successful in his life or a failure, old or young, ask them, what does Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) mean to you?
O West, I affirm that Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) is dearer to all Muslims than their own parents. O West, Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) is dearer to us, Muslims, than our children and grandchildren. O West, Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) is dearer to us than our money, dearer to us than our own selves. He is dearer to us than our own countries. O Egyptian, who is dearer to you, Egypt or Allah’s Prophet? O Saudi, who is dearer to you, Saudi Arabia or Allah’s Prophet? O Yemeni, O Moroccan, O Algerian, who is dearer to you, your country or Allah’s Messenger (SAWS)? O West, comprehend that meaning, Allah’s Messenger (SAWS) is dearer to Muslims than their children and their own selves.
We can never forget the hadith that I repeatedly mentioned during the episodes of “On the Path of the Beloved”. O West, listen to this hadith[11] as it forms part of the sentimental make-up of the Islamic personality:
“We were with the Prophet and he was holding the hand of Omar Ibnul-Khattab. Omar said to him, ‘O Allah's Messenger! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self.’ The Prophet said, ‘No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, (you will not have complete faith) till I am dearer to you than your own self.’ Then Omar said to him, ‘However, now, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my own self.’ The Prophet said, ‘Now, O Omar, (now you are a believer).’”[12]
Being a true believer is conditioned with loving Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) more than our own selves.
O West, this is our notion and this is our love for Prophet Muhammad (SAWS).
I know that the West resists racism as they realize very well what it means. I also know that they stand up against any anti-Semitic assaults as they recognize the serious consequences of such acts. Yet, true contradiction lies in respecting Semitism and resisting racialism on the one hand, while humiliating the most valued figure for Muslims, the Prophet (SAWS), on the other.
Six months ago, a famous journalist of the BBC attacked Arabs describing them as a worthless nation. In spite of being a renowned figure with a daily program in Britain, his slandering was rejected by the British as racist and he was fired from the BBC. At that time, I was preparing a program on family matters, and knowing that he had articles and shows tackling this subject, I wanted to refer to them. To my surprise, none of his works were available due to his intolerant views against Arabs. There is no way to compare the Prophet (SAWS) to the Arabic nation, as slandering them is of a diminutive nature when compared to offending the Prophet (SAWS). My message to the West then is that freedom of speech, which we indeed respect, honor, and actually need, should be modified so that it does not clash with the highly revered Muslim value of dignifying the Prophet (SAWS). The West respects monarchies, Semitism, all races, and different ethnicities, and its respect to the Prophet (SAWS) and to sacred Muslim values should be no less.
Thus, my message to the Muslim ummah is that we should not forsake dignifying the Prophet (SAWS) under any circumstance. On the other hand, my message to the West is that the value of freedom of speech should be adapted to Muslim values.
My third message is to the whole world. This offense does not aim at the Prophet (SAWS) alone, but rather to one billion, two hundred thousand Muslims; or rather to all humanity. To explain this further to everyone, whether Muslim or not, I believe that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) is the greatest personality that existed on earth. There is no doubt that his model of reform was most successful so far and whoever denies this fact is indeed most ungrateful. Slandering him is actually slandering humanity. Great men that existed throughout history were qualified as such due to a certain trait in their characters. Gandhi for example, was a great politician, Shakespeare a great dramatist, Voltaire a great writer, Napoleon a great military leader and so on. They were all great in one aspect or the other, while the Prophet (SAWS) was great in every aspect of his life. He was so great morally that he never hit or humiliated a soul, never beat a woman, never betrayed or lied, never went back on his word or avenged himself. He was always called 'the truthful and honest one' before bearing the message of Islam, and after becoming a prophet, the values and principles of the Qur’an were the model for his behavior. He was also great in his political insight. After the Battle of the Trench, for example, he knew that it was a turning point that would not be followed by a defeat. Moreover, he was great in his submissiveness to Allah as he bowed when praying, saying,
“O Allah, it is for Thee that I bowed. I affirm my faith in Thee and I submit to Thee, and submit humbly before Thee my hearing, my eyesight, my marrow, my bone, my sinew.”[13]
He (SAWS) also used to stand (in prayer) until both his feet swelled. When asked why (he offered such an unbearable prayer) he said,
“Should I not be a thankful slave?” [14]
He was great in the way he believed in freedom of opinion. In the Battle of Badr, he changed the location of the battlefield upon the advice of a soldier. He also agreed to dig the trench around Madinah according to Salman al-Faresy’s suggestion, and changed the fighting plan of the Battle of Uhud to respect the opinion of some of his companions. This is how he respected freedom of speech 1400 years ago!
He was great at forgiving others. On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, his companions were rejoicing saying, “Today is the day of a great battle and today Quraysh will be humiliated by Allah”. Conversely, the prophet's (SAWS) response was that today is the day of mercy in which Allah will bestow honor on Quraysh.
He was great in his voluntary renunciation of worldly luxuries when he could have been the richest man on earth had he wished to be. He was also great in the way he dealt with young people motivating them to exercise. For example, he once passed by some of the young companions of the tribe of Aslam practicing archery and he said to them,
“O offspring of Ishmael! Practice archery as your father was a great archer. I am with (on the side of) the son of so-and-so-.” Hearing that, one of the two teams stopped throwing. The Prophet (SAWS) asked them, “Why are you not throwing?” They replied, “O Allah's Apostle! How shall we throw when you are with the opposite team?” He said, “Throw, for I am with you all.”[15]
His enemies were never able to slander him due to any bad trait. He lived with them for 40 years before the divine message and another 13 years after it, and never were they able to smear him with a single bad trait that marred his character, or doubt his outstanding abilities. They even testified that he had never lied in his life. That is how great he was and that is how humiliating him smears every American, Indian, Pakistani etc.; everyone, whether Muslim or not. It is an insult to all humankind when such a great man is insulted.
He was great in his mercy. When he was persecuted by the people of At-Ta’ef and stoned until his feet kept bleeding, the angel of the mountains asked for his permission to destroy them. Yet his response was to supplicate Allah to guide them and to save them. Furthermore, in the Battle of Uhud, he was injured, overcome by his enemies, had his front teeth broken, and fell into a pit with blood gushing from his wounds. Nevertheless, when his companions asked him to curse them and to invoke Allah to punish them, he declined stressing the fact that he was sent as a mercy to all of humankind. He even invoked Allah to guide them to the right path and to excuse them for their ignorance.
He was merciful even with animals narrating that,
“A man saw a dog eating mud from (the severity of) thirst. So, that man took a shoe (and filled it) with water and kept on pouring the water for the dog till it quenched its thirst. So Allah approved of his deed and made him enter Paradise.”[16]
Similarly, he (SAWS) said,
“A woman was tortured and was put in Hell because of a cat which she had kept locked till it died of hunger.”[17]
This is our Prophet and this is how great he was. Unlike that of other great human figures in history, the Prophet’s greatness is lasting throughout the generations.
He believed in co-existence. He trusted the Jews and gave them all the rights of citizenship in Madinah, guaranteeing that no one would harm them, take any of their money, force them to convert, or intercede with their freedom to worship. He was also great in co-existence when he was against using the Muslims loyal to him in Makkah to create tension among the people of Quraysh, even during the war between Makkah and Madinah. At the time of the Hudaybeya treaty, he could have waged war against Quraysh but resorted to peace instead. He could have turned it into a bloodbath, but he chose peace and forced it on his enemies.
The human race should be proud that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) existed one day, whether they were Muslims, Hindu, Jews, Christians, believers of any kind, or even non-believers. He is a turning point in the course of humanity. This is Muhammad (SAWS) and this is how humanity was humiliated the day he was. People around the world are demanding an international law that protects the dignity of this great Prophet.
That was my message to Muslims, to the West, and to the whole world.
One final question remains here, which is, what is it that we want? We do not need speeches. It took me some time to deliver this speech, as I believe that speeches alone cannot solve this problem. We do not even want superficial apologies that are not as deep as our wounds. We do need effective actions that denote Western respect for the Prophet (SAWS). We will not stop our protests until our Prophet regains the dignity he duly deserves as our great leader. Thus empty words and shallow apologies are not enough, actions must be taken. Until then, I need everyone to convey this message to their families and friends. I want it to be translated by Dar al-Tarjama to all languages and to be distributed everywhere to reach the West. This speech will be broadcast on Iqraa’ channel soon and I want as many people as possible to watch it. Meanwhile we should do our best to let the people know about our Prophet (SAWS). ‘On the Path of the Beloved’ for example, a program about the Prophet’s life, is being replayed now on Iqraa’ every Tuesday and Friday. Dr Tarek Suweidan, A’aed al-Qarny, Al-Habib Aly al-Jifry and Dr. Al-Buty are all renowned modern Muslims scholars who have speeches and articles about the life of the Prophet. Please do your best to make good use of their works as well as the tapes of ‘On the Path of the Beloved’ to enlighten the whole world about the Prophet (SAWS), until this predicament is unraveled and until Muslim requests are answered with real actions. Thus, what I am asking everyone to do is to distribute this message everywhere and to let everyone know about who the Prophet (SAWS) is. Our duty is double fold, we need to distribute this speech and make it available everywhere, and we need to introduce the Prophet (SAWS) and tell his story to everyone, among Muslims and non-Muslims. This speech is to be continued and I am indeed not done yet with this issue. Thank you. May peace and Allah’s blessing and mercy be upon you all, and let us get to work.

Assalamu alaylom (peace be upon you).
All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah (SAWS)[1].
The dialogue on the Denmark issue continues. Today, actually I would like to talk about a different aspect. I would like to begin with a message that I believe will conclude with practical steps. We want to conclude this talk with something practical that our youth and our women can carry out. In order to reach the practical part, let me begin by saying that everyone is wondering and people are asking each other, "What shall we do?" "What are the practical measures that we can take after the protests?" "We have objected, but what should we do next?" We need practical steps; 1, 2, 3…
Everyone is asking, "Have we given the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) his due? Have we delivered?", "Are you satisfied O Messenger of Allah?", "Have we fulfilled our duty towards our beloved Prophet (SAWS), or is there still something we should do?", "Have we fully done our duty?" We have expressed our objection by spontaneous and immediate protests. People were moved to protest instinctively, although we do reject all forms of violence that took place. Eventually we all expressed our anger, our objection, our love and our defense of our Prophet (SAWS) in his absence. The media (the TV and the press) broadcasted this Muslim objection and the whole world heard, and realized that the Prophet (SAWS) is more precious to us than ourselves, our children, our lives, our fathers and our mothers. We have done that; we have expressed our objection in different ways, some of which were right and some were wrong. We have expressed our objection. The question is, have we fulfilled our duty towards the Messenger of Allah (SAWS)? This question has been on my mind since last week. One has been watching the TV and seen all the reactions around the world. "Are you satisfied with us, O Messenger of Allah?", "Have we fulfilled our duty towards the Messenger of Allah (SAWS)?" These questions should not just be on my mind, they should be on everyone's mind, because we will meet with the Prophet (SAWS), and we long for the joy of his intercession, and for him to take us by the hand.
The events of these days are historical events in the lives of every one of us. The day we meet the Prophet (SAWS) we will be asked about these events, "Such and such happened, how did you defend me in my absence? How did you express yourself on the matter?" Actually one asks, "Is this enough?" Have we fulfilled our duty towards the Prophet (SAWS)?" In my opinion it is not enough. Not yet. Surely a few days of protests and demonstrations are not enough to express our loyalty to the Prophet (SAWS). I believe our job is not yet done. It's true the objections were very effective and very important (taking into account our reservations about the unacceptable forms of protests). It is true that the objections were important but these objections were an expression of our love for the Prophet (SAWS). There is still something missing, informing the other party, enlightening Denmark who does not know anything about the issue here.
A friend told me recently that schoolchildren in Denmark are asking their teachers, "Who is Muhammad, about whom this whole problem has erupted?" The teachers are saying they are unable to reply because they do not have a reply. They themselves do not know. Those are the children of Denmark. Those are the teachers who are well-educated, the senior members of their community, millions of people….
"Have we fulfilled our duty towards the Prophet (SAWS)?" "Has the world been enlightened?"
We have expressed our objection, but we have not introduced the world to the Messenger of Allah. Denmark still does not know why we are angry they are not aware of the greatness of the Prophet (SAWS).
Notice that the tone used to object is different from the tone used to enlighten, the tone used to object lets the other party know that there is a problem. However, that is not a message of invitation (to Islam). It is not a message of enlightenment, of who he is. That is why I say no, not yet; we still have not fulfilled our duty towards the Prophet (SAWS). All you young men and women who have objected and feel that you have done your duty, I am sorry, not yet; there is still a long way to go, for you to meet him at the hawd[2], and for him to embrace you and be pleased with you. If you are truly sincere, and it was not just a random reaction, an instinctive action, I am sure that every one of us loves the Prophet (SAWS), but I am also sure that we tend to cool down too quickly. What I want to say is, " No, not yet!"
Think, if the Prophet (SAWS) himself had been here with us now, how would he have dealt with this issue? Has anyone thought of that I wonder? If the Prophet (SAWS) himself had been here with us now, how would he have dealt with this issue? How would he have benefited from this issue to serve his message? How? How? How?
To answer that question, if the Prophet (SAWS) himself had been here with us now, how would he have dealt with this issue? I have to ask you another question, "What was the most precious thing to the Prophet (SAWS), the most important thing in the Prophet's (SAWS) life?" "Was the most precious thing in the Prophet's life, himself as a person or his message?" Do you see what I am getting at? His message, his message was the most precious thing to him. His name is Muhammad, Messenger of Allah. That is who he is. We worship our Lord with it. We bear witness that there is no God to be worshipped but Allah, and we bear witness that Muhammad is his Messenger. He is a Messenger of Allah.
Our objection was for the Prophet (SAWS) as a person and it was necessary. However, the rest of the name, Messenger of Allah, the Message…. "What is the greatest thing in your life O Messenger of Allah?" "My message"
"What is the greatest thing in your life O Messenger of Allah?" "Guidance of the world (to Islam)"
"What is the greatest thing in your life O Messenger of Allah?" "Introducing the world to my message, introducing the world to my religion, introducing the world to this message, this guidance, the good of this religion, the prosperity for the earth, the prosperity for mankind, and the guidance of mankind (to Islam)." That is his message, and we say Muhammad, Messenger of Allah.
All you who have objected, if you have fulfilled your duty towards the Prophet (SAWS) as a person, there is still a major role for you to play. You still have not fully fulfilled your duty. Fulfillment will be complete with Muhammad, Messenger of Allah. We have a major role to play. I say with feeling because I am afraid that people will feel that they are ok. The Messenger (SAWS) will be pleased with you, and will be satisfied with you when the enlightenment is complete; when you carry out this mission perfectly.
An important point I want to get across is that it is his due; it is the Messenger of Allah's due; it is Muhammad's (SAWS) due. It is the Messenger of Allah's due;
it is the Messenger of Allah's (SAWS) due, that we introduce the world to his message, that we introduce the world to our religion, that we bring good to the world. We bring prosperity to the world, we are guidance to the world, we are beneficial to the world, and we are a gift to the world. This is his message, that he is great he brings prosperity to the world.
We still have not fulfilled, we still have an important role. Take heed that we have two relationships with the Messenger (SAWS). I want to come to the practical part but this is so that we understand our position with regards to the Denmark issue. We are at the objection phase. Where do we want to go from here? What do we want to achieve? This way we can come to our practical duty, all convinced and in agreement. What I want to say again is that we have two distinct relationships with the Prophet (SAWS). The first one is that we are his followers, and we are proud of that, thus it is our duty as such to defend him in his absence. With Allah's will, we have done that and will continue to do so.
However we also have another relationship with the Prophet, do not forget that! It is very important. We have inherited the message, we have inherited from the Prophet (SAWS) that Prophets do not bequeath wealth, property, or money. But they left us this knowledge and this religion. We are the inheritors who will carry the legacy of his message, to introduce the whole world to him. They do not know him; the people of Denmark do not know him.
If there been true enlightenment and acquaintance between us and the Danish people, if they knew us and we knew them this would never had happened. Mutual acquaintance would have nipped this problem in the bud, because the people of Denmark would have said no, we know him and that is not true. The people of Denmark do not know him.
The opinion polls that were carried out were based on the opinions of people on something they had no knowledge of, and therefore were inaccurate. This is because they were asking them to give an opinion on something they knew nothing of. Thus scientifically speaking, they are incorrect.
This is very, very important we have two relationships; we are his followers and we are inheritors of the Prophet. We must take this on and inherit it. I want to stress that the Prophet's message was more precious to him than the world and everything in it and this is our duty. The Prophet's message was more precious to him than world and everything in it. Remember what he said to his uncle, remember from the program "On the Path of the beloved", do you remember how we shed tears during the program, and how touched we were, and how we wished to follow in his footsteps. People used to send me thousands of messages via the internet, saying we want to do as the Prophet (SAWS) did. Now we have a golden opportunity to carry his message and deliver it to the world which is saying, "Tell us about your Prophet."
Come on young men and women, come on share the burden with the Prophet (SAWS). Do not say this is the responsibility of the scholars, the scholars are doing their duty. However we are all, "You have been the most charitable nation brought out to mankind; you command..." (TMQ, 3:110),[3] all of you, all of you are responsible for your Prophet, not just the scholars, not only the religious leaders. That is why it is crucial for us to agree on how precious the message was to the Prophet (SAWS). Remember when he said to his uncle that if they place the sun in his right hand and the moon in his left hand, if they give him the night and the day (the sun represents the day and the moon represents the night) if they give all that the sun shines on and all that the moon shines on in return for forsaking the matter (delivering the message to mankind) he would never forsake it, until Allah makes it apparent or he dies for the sake of it. All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon you O Messenger of Allah.
I want to encourage you to use the Demark issue, in order to introduce and deliver the Prophet's (SAWS) message. We want to move on to that phase and act with utmost strength. We need to make a lot of effort and really feel that story, and say "At last I have been given the chance to carry the message and introduce it to the world, to the people.
I will never forget and neither will you, do you remember the journey to Taif to spread the message, 100 km on foot, O Messenger of Allah! 100km and we are unable to send a message to the people of Denmark to tell them that we want to enlighten them about the Prophet! The prophet traveled 100 km on foot! We want the women who are listening to me now we want the children who are listening to me now, the youth to do something to help deliver the message. At the end we will agree on practical steps to take. The day he set out for Taif, 100km on foot, his noble feet were injured. Talking about the abuse of the past few days, the Prophet was exposed to a lot of abuse the message was very precious. His feet bled, his feet were injured at the age of fifty. He invoked Allah with the well-known prayer do you remember, O Allah, to You I confide my waning strength, my helplessness, and people’s disdain. O Most Merciful of all, You are the Lord of the oppressed. You are my Lord. To whom are You leaving me, to a stranger to scowl at me, or to an enemy to badger my affairs? If this is not due to Your wrath from me then I am satisfied, but Your provision of well-being is preferable to me. . The Angel of the Mountains came to him and asked him not to be upset, for he is ordered to destroy them if only the Prophet orders him to do so, but the Prophet (SAWS) refused to harm them because their offspring may be guided. The Angel said, "He spoke the truth who named you kind and merciful."
Not just that, the Prophet (SAWS) while still in the midst of his crisis with Quraysh he (SAWS) communicated with the rest of the world. He sent messages to the Kings of the world. He sent them all messages to introduce himself, "From Muhammad, Messenger of Allah to Khusrau, Great Leader of Persia, to Caesar, Great Leader of Rome, and so on. To the King of Egypt to the King of Ghassasan, to the King of Bahrain, he sent messages to the East, to the West. He sent messages to the whole world to introduce himself and his message to them.
Moreover, he heard that there was a contingent of Christians from Yemen, therefore he hosted them in his mosque and opened a dialogue with them in order to communicate with them. See how many stages of dialogue there were, dialogue with Quraysh, dialogue with Christians, and dialogue with the whole world to introduce and deliver the concept and the message. All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon you O Messenger of Allah.
This was an introduction for me to reach the conclusion that this is our message, not just like the Prophet, it actually is our message. Now our turn has come to deliver the message to the whole world. We are carrying a message. Here is a Qur'anic message that can be translated as, "O you mankind, surely We created you of a male and a female, and We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted." (TMQ, 49:13) Allah made this way in order to exchange benefits, cultures, to come to understandings and to co-exist. This is the Qur'an, this is our Qur'an, this ayah is in our Qur'an, and this ayah tells us that this is our role in the world; dialogue, communication and co-existence, "We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted." (TMQ, 49:13). This is the next phase that we want to enter into.
There is another important ayah that says, "You have been the most charitable nation brought out to mankind" (TMQ, 3:110), in what way? Why? What is the good in this ummah (nation)? "You command beneficence, and forbid maleficence" (TMQ, 3:110), you spread good and prevent evil, and, "and believe in Allah" (TMQ, 3:110), you spread guidance, truth and prosperity. This is the nature of our ummah.
The Prophet's message is our message. I want to summarize the message into these two ayahs, I want to define it at this point in time with these two ayahs because we are in need of these two ayahs. One of them says, "We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted." (TMQ, 49:13). We have read this ayah so many times without giving it a second thought. The Denmark crisis has made us notice this ayah. Read it, it is in Surat Al-Hujurat. It tells us to contemplate this ayah. This is your Qur'an, this is your religion, "We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted." (TMQ, 49:13).
That is what is required of us, if this ayah had been carried out, the people in the West, the children of Denmark would not have asked, "Who is Muhammad?", the great Muhammad, the greatest of all mankind. The children of Denmark do not know him. Introduction of our religion, our Prophet; the phase of dialogue and communication with the West, the phase of understanding, the phase in which we can make, "We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted." (TMQ, 49:13) This is our motto.
When everyone has done that only then can we sleep peacefully and relax and say with Allah's Will, I have fulfilled my duty towards you O Messenger of Allah. Until then it is not enough just to protest. It is not nearly enough! Don't let your conscience rest! Don't relax and say I have done my duty. My whole talk is headed in one direction; we now want to move on from the phase of protests to a more important phase.
We need to move on from the phase of protests to a more important one. We need to move on from the instantaneous, temporary protests, which represented our spontaneous sentiments (keeping in mind that we strongly condemn violence), to a new phase: the phase of carrying the message. This new phase is characterized by undertaking the burden of communicating the message; it is the phase of "On the Path of the Beloved". Time has proven that what has been said in the episodes of "On the Path of the Beloved" must now be transformed into action. This is to the young people, the children, the women, and everyone: we are all required to propagate the correct information about the Prophet (SAWS). We now have to move on to the phase of informing and conversing, with the intention of carrying our Prophet's message to the world.
What happened in Denmark was terrible, but what's worse than that is the fact that there are millions in the West who know nothing about the Prophet (SAWS). I believe this to be the consequence of two things.
First: We are negligent when it comes to representing our Prophet (SAWS). We are negligent when it comes to feeling that we are the inheritors of the Prophet (SAWS). We are negligent when it comes to taking the responsibility of communicating with the West, in the attempt of fulfilling the ayah in which Allah says, what can be translated as, "… We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted" (TMQ, 26:13). We are talking to ourselves but not with the other. Where is the credibility? We need to communicate with the other in order to carry our voice to them. The ayah "… We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted" (TMQ, 26:13) represents an Islamic obligation to communicate our Prophet's message.
Second: There are evil hands working forcefully to isolate Muslims from the rest of the world. Please understand this point clearly. Some hidden hands are working on increasing the gap between Muslims and the rest of the world, and preventing the peoples of the other nations to learn the true essence of Islam. When the great advancement in communication technology took place, the chances of communicating the true essence of Islam, its goodness and mercifulness to the rest of the world, increased dramatically. There was now more room for civilizations to communicate. Therefore, there were those who wanted Muslims to lose this opportunity, and so created disputes here and there among the two groups. What happened in Denmark and what happened previously in other places as well all aim at detaching Muslims from the rest of the world. The goal is that nothing but nasty information about Muslims should reach the rest of the world, while the goodness in them, and the great notions they live for must not be communicated to the West.
We are negligent and there are those who create disputes. Both what happened in London on the seventh of July, and the Danish caricatures represent extremism, and are leading the world into a pit of doom. They are hindering communication in order to prevent the Western nations from listening to what Muslims have to say.
As Muslims we have to ask ourselves, 'Are we going to allow ourselves to become isolated from the rest of the world?' This would not be in line with the essence of our faith, and would not allow us to communicate to the world the greatness of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (SAWS). We must not miss the opportunity to communicate and merge. The ayah in which Allah says, what can be translated as, "… We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted" (TMQ, 26:13) does not address Muslims only, but rather addresses humanity as a whole. This ayah calls for the interchange between civilizations and cultures, as well as benefiting from each other. We have a lot of goodness that we must communicate to the world.
Do not allow those who want to isolate Muslims to prevent you from communicating your goodness to the other civilizations. I do not seek by this to convert the West into Islam, but I seek respect for our own civilization, as well as goodness for all humanity. The Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) was not sent to Muslims only; he was sent to humanity as a whole. The Prophet (SAWS) was sent even to those who do not want to convert to Islam, and to those who are furthest away from Islam. Allah says, what can be translated as, "And in no way have We sent you except as a mercy to the worlds" (TMQ, 21:107). He was sent to humans as well as to other creatures. He was sent as a mercy to Muslims and non-Muslims; to Christians, Jews, Buddhists Hindus, and all.
Therefore, I want you to understand now that our duty is to interact. Our obligation is to acquaint everyone with our Prophet (SAWS) and his message. Who will be able to carry the burden of this message? Who will have the honor to tell the Prophet (SAWS) that he or she fulfilled the following two ayahs, in which Allah says, what can be translated as, "… We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted" (TMQ, 26:13), and "You have been the most charitable nation brought out to mankind: you command beneficence, and forbid maleficence, and believe in Allah" (TMQ, 3:110).
To be very pragmatic, what are the specific practical steps we have to take in order to acquaint the world with Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) and to communicate his message? I have two ideas, and I ask all of those who hear me to participate.
The first step is to send a message. Everyone must send this message; every man and every woman, and even every child. I know that you have already sent messages of protest to the different Western embassies, but this is a new sort of message. We have to start taking our roles as the inheritors of the Prophet (SAWS). We want to send short messages to the Danish people. These messages will not be of a condemning nature, but rather messages to acquaint them to the Prophet (SAWS). Tell them that our religion and Prophet (SAWS) instruct us to do this. "… We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted" (TMQ, 26:13).
Send it in any form you like, and in any language you prefer, and we will deliver it to the world. You do not have to be a scholar or a professional writer to participate in this. Write a sentence or two, or children could even send a drawing. If you need any facts about the Prophet (SAWS) you can refer to the episodes of "On the Path of the Beloved" or refer to the works of any other of the many scholars who have talked about the Prophet (SAWS). Express your own emotions, even if in the simplest of words. This must be the work of the people themselves and not of the scholars. We want the Danish people to understand that we Muslims are talking about interaction and the merging of the civilizations. They must understand that this is an ayah from our Noble Qur'an: "… We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted" (TMQ, 26:13). The Danish people do not know anything about our Prophet (SAWS) and never harmed us in any way. They do not comprehend the reason behind our frustration.
Send these messages to [link] and we will deliver them to the world. Do not send them to the embassies because if you do so they will get mixed up with those of condemnation, while this will not be the nature of your messages. Your messages will be ones of acquaintance. It is a message of informing others about the Prophet (SAWS). The messages will explain that we have been ordered to communicate, and will inform them about the Prophet (SAWS). These messages sent to [link] will be delivered, if Allah Wills, to the Danish people through the right channels. We want them to understand who we really are.
Send the messages starting from today. Recall all your feelings towards the Prophet (SAWS) and tell him that you are on his path. Nations will not necessarily understand each other through the sophisticated words of scholars, but will understand the simple words of the other peoples. You have a week to send us your messages, and we will work on delivering them.
The second idea is a very important one. I hope that we will be able to come together to make it work, and I hope that it takes place in the short coming few weeks. Let us organize a conference in Denmark. This will not be a conference by scholars, but rather a conference by the people. I am stressing the importance of our roles; the people's role. The people can do greater things than those that can be done by official bodies and scholars. Messages from ordinary people will have greater effects on the Danish people.
We need our Muslim youths to go to the conference in Denmark as ambassadors. This conference must be witnessed by the whole world, and must address several issues. The first would be informing everyone about our Prophet (SAWS). The slogan of the conference would be "This is our Prophet… This is our religion", and it would be the first issue to be addressed. The second issue to be addressed should discuss the means and ways of acquaintance and coexistence among nations. The third issue should discuss the definition of "freedom of speech" as understood by people
In order to make this work, we must choose some of our successful, outstanding, educated young people, who are in good command of foreign languages. They will not be scholars of course, but they will be supported by them and supplied with facts by them. The message sent by those successful, cultured young people will be stronger and more effective than that of scholars. They will impress people just like the young people of "Life-Makers" impressed everyone in Hajj[4]. This conference must be shown on the different television channels of the world, and discussed in the world's newspapers.
This conference is nothing but an idea until this moment. I need your inputs and feedback about it. Send your suggestions to [link] . I promise you that if there is sufficient interaction concerning this idea we will start moving in the direction of implementation, and will update you.
Finally, I just want to remind you that we have an obligation towards our Prophet (SAWS). We must carry his message to the rest of the world, and inform them about Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) and our religion. Messages of acquaintance must be sent to inform them about the Prophet (SAWS) and to explain that our religion urged us to communicate and promoted coexistence. Millions of messages must be sent. As for the conference, if we find that it is a welcomed idea, we will start working on it this week.
We will not accept a symbolic apology. We want them to take actions that prove their respect for the Prophet (SAWS).
